What Is Pincode Pricing?
Pincode pricing means applying different product prices to shoppers in different delivery pincodes. It is the most granular form of regional pricing - more precise than city or state rules - and it is the only approach that can differentiate between, say, two neighbourhoods in the same city.
India has over 19,000 active pincodes. For D2C brands, this granularity matters: logistics costs, customer willingness to pay, and RTO rates all vary significantly at the pincode level. A product priced at ₹999 in a tier-1 Mumbai pincode might sell better at ₹899 in a suburban Navi Mumbai pincode.
Shopify does not support pincode-level pricing natively. Lokally adds it using Shopify Functions - server-side checkout logic that Shopify runs on its own infrastructure.

Many location-based apps guess a shopper's location from their IP address, which is often wrong at pincode level: mobile data, VPNs and shared WiFi all report the wrong place.

Pincode Ranges, Wildcards and Long Lists
You can add pincodes individually, as a range (for example 400001-400099), or as wildcards (for example 40* for Mumbai), and paste long lists at once.
Most brands group pincodes into regions such as Metro, Tier 2 and Tier 3, and give each region its own price.
Real Checkout Prices
Lokally applies price changes at the actual Shopify checkout - not just on the product page display. Shoppers in targeted pincodes see the correct price on the product page and pay exactly that price at checkout. No surprise price differences in the cart.
How to set it up

Install Lokally
Install Lokally from the Shopify App Store and choose a plan. New subscriptions start with a 7-day free trial, billed through Shopify.

Group your pincodes into regions
Go to Regions and create a region for each price tier, such as Metro, Tier 2 and Tier 3. Paste each tier's pincodes, or use ranges and wildcards.

Add a pricing rule
Go to Pricing rules, then Create pricing rule, and choose the region.

Choose what it applies to
All products, or specific products and collections.

Set the price
A percentage off, an amount off, or a fixed regional price below your normal price.

Save and publish
Shoppers who enter a pincode in that region see the regional price. At checkout, the price follows their delivery pincode.

Can I add pincodes from a spreadsheet?
There is no file import, but you don't need to type pincodes one by one: copy a column of pincodes from a spreadsheet and paste it into a region's pincode box.
What if a shopper's pincode matches multiple rules?
Lokally applies the most specific rule first. A pincode-level rule takes priority over a city-level rule, which takes priority over a state-level rule. If two rules of the same type match, the rule with the higher discount applies.
Does pincode pricing work with Shopify sale prices and discounts?
Yes. Lokally pricing rules stack with Shopify's native discounts. A shopper in a Tier 2 pincode can receive both the regional price reduction and a sitewide sale discount simultaneously.
How does Lokally get the shopper's pincode?
Lokally prompts shoppers to enter their delivery pincode early in the shopping experience - the same pincode they enter for delivery. Shoppers provide this willingly because it helps them see accurate prices and shipping info.
