Regional festival campaigns: run Navratri, Durga Puja, and Pongal at the same time

India has 30+ major regional festivals celebrated intensely in specific states. Lokally lets you run state-specific campaigns - pricing, banners, and countdown timers. Regional prices can be scheduled in advance to start and stop automatically.

The problem with national festival campaigns

Indian brands run national Diwali campaigns but miss the deeper opportunity: 30+ major regional festivals each intensely celebrated in specific states. A Navratri campaign that doesn't speak to Gujarat feels generic. A Durga Puja offer that doesn't reach West Bengal misses the market's peak buying moment.

Shopify does not support showing different banners, prices, or content per state. Running state-specific campaigns requires either: (a) multiple stores, (b) custom development, or (c) using coupon codes that leak to all regions. None of these are good options for most brands.

Lokally adds location-based content and pricing that is triggered by the shopper's pincode - so a Gujarat shopper sees a Navratri campaign, a West Bengal shopper sees a Durga Puja offer, and a Tamil Nadu shopper sees a Pongal deal, all simultaneously, from one store.

How to set up a regional festival campaign

  1. Step 1

Plan your festival calendar for the year

List each upcoming regional festival, its target states, campaign dates, and discount depth. One row per campaign. This becomes your Lokally rule creation checklist.

  2. Step 2

Create the pricing rule for each festival

In Lokally, create a region for the festival's states using their pincode prefixes. Then in Pricing rules, create a rule for that region, set the discount, and set start and end dates. Repeat for each festival campaign.

  3. Step 3

Create the content rule (banner) for each festival

Add a Lokally hero banner or announcement bar in your theme editor, then in Storefront content set the festival creative (e.g. a Navratri banner for Gujarat) for the same region. Change it back when the festival ends.

  4. Step 4

Add countdown timers for urgent campaigns

For flash sales, turn on the countdown timer in Lokally's announcement bar block in the theme editor, and set the bar's message for the region in Storefront content.

  5. Step 5

Publish and let the pricing schedule run

Publish. Pricing rules start and end on their dates automatically, so you can set up the year's festival prices in one session. Update the banners when each campaign starts and ends.

Questions brands ask

How many regional festival campaigns can I run simultaneously?

There's no fixed limit on regions or rules. You can run Navratri for Gujarat, Durga Puja for West Bengal and a national Diwali campaign at the same time, each with its own region, prices and content. The only ceiling is Shopify's 10 KB size for checkout settings, and the Lokally dashboard warns you if you go over it.

Can I set up all festival campaigns for the year in advance?

Yes, for pricing. Pricing rules have optional start and end dates, so you can set up the year's festival prices in one go and they start and stop automatically. Banner content isn't scheduled: update it in Storefront content when each campaign starts and ends.

What if a festival date shifts year to year (e.g. Eid, Diwali)?

Update the start and end dates on the pricing rule before the campaign begins. The region and discount stay the same.

Does the regional discount apply on top of sitewide Diwali discounts?

It can. Lokally's regional discount is set to combine with other product, order and shipping discounts, so a shopper in Gujarat can get both the Navratri price and a sitewide Diwali discount, as long as that discount also allows combining.

How do I prevent the wrong banner showing in the wrong region?

Each Lokally block's content is set per region. A Navratri banner set for your Gujarat region only shows to shoppers who choose a Gujarat pincode; other regions see their own content or your normal storefront.
