What Is Location-Based Content on Shopify?
Location-based content means showing different storefront elements - banners, hero sections, announcement bars, countdown timers - to shoppers in different regions. A shopper in Tamil Nadu sees a Pongal campaign banner; a shopper in Gujarat sees a Navratri offer. Same store, same URL, different content.
This type of personalisation increases relevance, engagement, and conversion. A banner in the shopper's local festival context outperforms a generic national banner every time.
Shopify does not support regional content natively. Lokally adds this capability through Shopify Theme Extensions - app blocks placed in the theme editor that render the correct content based on the shopper's pincode.

What You Can Change by Region
Lokally's theme blocks change by region: hero banners, announcement bars (with optional countdown timers), product displays, content blocks, sliders and popups.
You can also show or hide your theme's own sections and elements by region, and hide collections in regions where you don't sell them.
Scheduled Content - Activate and Deactivate Automatically
Each Lokally content rule has an optional start date and end date. Configure a Navratri banner for Gujarat to activate on October 1 and deactivate on October 12 - then forget about it. It runs and stops automatically.
This means your festival campaign calendar can be set up weeks in advance. No manual updates, no forgetting to deactivate a Diwali banner in January.
How to set it up
- Step 1
Install Lokally
Install Lokally from the Shopify App Store and choose a plan. New subscriptions start with a 7-day free trial, billed through Shopify.
- Step 2
Create your regions
In Lokally, go to Regions and add a region for each area. Paste its pincodes (one per line or comma-separated), or use ranges (400001-400099) and wildcards (40*) to cover a city or a whole state.
- Step 3
Add Lokally blocks to your theme
In Shopify, go to Online Store, Themes, Customize, and add Lokally's app blocks (for example a hero banner or announcement bar) where you want them.
- Step 4
Set content per region
In Lokally, go to Storefront content and set each block's content for each region. You can also show or hide page sections and collections by region.
- Step 5
Publish
Click Publish. Shoppers see the content for the region they choose.

Yes. Add Lokally's hero banner block to your theme, create a region for each city's pincodes, and set the banner's image, heading, text and button for each region.
Can I show different product descriptions per region?
Yes. Lokally's content engine lets you override product description text, badge labels, and USP callouts per region. This is useful for highlighting locally relevant features or compliance certifications.
How does the system know which content to show?
Content rules are triggered by the shopper's pincode - the same pincode they enter for delivery. Once a pincode is entered, all matching location-based content rules activate immediately.
