Lokally is a Regional Commerce Platform for Shopify. It lets you show different prices, storefront content, payment methods, and promotions to shoppers in different regions — by pincode, city, state, or custom zone — all from a single Shopify store. You define regions once, attach rules to them, and Lokally serves the right experience to each shopper automatically.

Yes. Lokally uses Shopify Theme App Extensions — it never modifies your theme files. Install the app, add the location block via the Shopify Theme Editor (no code), and your store adapts to every region automatically. It works with all Online Store 2.0 themes, including Dawn, Prestige, Impulse, and any custom theme.

Lokally works on all Shopify plans that support Shopify Functions — that includes Basic, Shopify, Advanced, and Shopify Plus. Shopify Functions (which power Lokally's checkout pricing) are available on all paid plans as of 2024.

Yes, they can run side by side. Shopify Markets handles international multi-currency storefronts (country-level). Lokally handles sub-country regional commerce — different prices and content by pincode, city, or state within a single country. If you sell both internationally and across regions within India, you can use both.

Yes. Lokally is built exclusively on official Shopify APIs — Shopify Functions for checkout pricing and Theme App Extensions for storefront content. No third-party checkout hacks or theme file modifications are used. Everything runs within Shopify's native platform.

Yes. While many of Lokally's features are designed around India-specific needs (pincodes, COD, RTO), the platform works for any merchant who wants sub-country regional commerce. You can define regions by city, state, or custom zone for any country and apply pricing, content, or payment rules to those regions.

No. Everything in Lokally is configured through a dashboard — regions, pricing rules, content swaps, payment restrictions, and reward programs. The only step that touches your theme is adding a location block via the Shopify Theme Editor, which is drag-and-drop. No code files are touched, no liquid edits required.

You can import thousands of pincodes at once using our CSV bulk import tool on the Regions page. Simply upload a CSV file with your pincodes and zone keys, and they will be matched and activated immediately.

All configuration data is deleted from our servers within 48 hours in compliance with Shopify's data deletion requirements. Shopify Functions and theme extensions are automatically deactivated. Your store returns to its original state with no residual code.

Lokally's reward engine writes discount codes to order metafields after a qualifying purchase. You can use Shopify Flow to trigger email workflows (or Klaviyo, Omnisend, etc.) based on those metafields to deliver the reward code to the customer automatically.

When a shopper enters their pincode (or it is detected via their shipping address), Lokally matches it to a region you have defined. At checkout, a Shopify Function applies the correct price for that region — server-side, with no JavaScript overhead. The shopper sees their regional price before completing payment. No coupon codes, no manual overrides.

Not natively — Shopify's default pricing is one price per currency, per product. Lokally adds pincode-level pricing by running a Shopify Function at checkout that applies your configured price for the shopper's pincode. The price is real (not a display trick) and is enforced at the point of payment.

Shopify price lists (used with Shopify Markets or B2B) work at the country or company level. Lokally works at the pincode, city, or state level within a single country. If you need ₹1,499 in Tier-2 cities and ₹1,999 in metros — all within India — Lokally is the tool for that. Shopify price lists cannot do sub-country geographic segmentation.

Yes. You can define regions by Indian state (grouping all pincodes in Maharashtra, Gujarat, etc.) and assign pricing rules to each state group. State-level pricing is simpler to configure than pincode-level and works well for GST-adjusted pricing or franchise territory pricing where territory boundaries align with states.

Yes. Lokally's pricing rules apply at checkout via Shopify Functions and work alongside Shopify's native discount system. Your compare-at prices and sale badges in the storefront work as normal; Lokally applies the regional price adjustment at the checkout stage.

Yes. Pricing rules support both percentage adjustments (e.g., 10% lower for Tier-2 cities) and fixed price overrides (e.g., exactly ₹1,299 for all products in a zone). You can also mix rule types across different regions.

Minimum order values are managed through Shopify's native shipping settings or payment rules. Lokally's payment rules can hide certain payment methods below a cart value threshold, which effectively creates an indirect minimum for those payment options.

Lokally's Shopify Function applies pricing adjustments to line item prices at checkout. The compare-at price displayed on product pages is a Shopify metafield and is not modified by Lokally. If you want to show a different compare-at price by region, that would require a content rule to swap the displayed text.

Unlimited on the Pro plan. You can create as many region groups as your business needs and stack multiple rules per region. A single shopper can trigger a regional price, a content swap, and a payment restriction simultaneously from one publish.

Yes. The Lokally dashboard shows a preview of how pricing rules will apply before you publish. You can also test by entering a pincode in the storefront location input to see the price as a shopper in that region would.

No. Pricing logic runs inside Shopify Functions at checkout — entirely server-side, with zero JavaScript added to your storefront. Content and announcement bar rules use lightweight Theme App Extensions that load asynchronously and have no effect on your Core Web Vitals or LCP score.

Your default store behaviour applies — the same prices and content every shopper sees before entering a location. Regional rules only activate once a pincode or location is provided. You can prompt shoppers to enter their pincode at any point on the storefront using Lokally's location input block.

Yes — this is one of Lokally's most-used features for Indian merchants. Create a region with your high-RTO or high-fraud pincodes, then add a Payment Method Rule to hide COD for that region. Customers in those pincodes will only see prepaid options (UPI, card, Pay Later). Everyone else sees COD as normal. Takes under 2 minutes to set up.

Yes. Create a region that covers all pincodes (or set it as a global default rule) and apply a payment rule to hide COD. This is simpler than pincode-level restriction — useful when you want to go fully prepaid across India.

Yes. You can invert the logic — hide COD globally and show it only for specific trusted regions. Create a rule that hides COD by default, then create a separate region for your trusted pincodes where COD remains visible.

Yes. Payment method rules include a rename action. You can rename 'Cash on Delivery' to 'Pay on Delivery' for specific regions, or rename 'UPI' to 'UPI Fast Checkout' to emphasise speed for metro shoppers.

Yes. Payment method rules include a reorder action. You can push UPI to the top of the payment list for metro pincodes where UPI adoption is high, and keep COD at the top for Tier-2 and Tier-3 zones.

Yes. Any payment method visible at Shopify checkout can be targeted by a Lokally payment rule. You can hide, show, rename, or reorder UPI, COD, card, BNPL, Pay Later, or any other gateway method based on the shopper's region.

Lokally payment rules can target carts below a value threshold. Create a rule to hide Pay Later when cart value is under ₹500. This works alongside regional rules — you can hide Pay Later for low-value carts in specific regions.

Lokally payment rules work via Shopify's payment customization API, which applies on top of Shopify Payments. Any method you can see at checkout — including Shopify Payments methods — can be targeted by a Lokally rule.

Yes. Lokally payment rules work with all payment methods that appear at Shopify checkout, regardless of the underlying gateway (Razorpay, PayU, Cashfree, Paytm, etc.). The rule targets the displayed payment method name, not the gateway integration.

Payment rule changes go live within 30 seconds of publishing in the Lokally dashboard. There is no cache delay — the Shopify checkout reflects the updated rules immediately on the next checkout session.

Not natively — Shopify themes show the same announcement bar to all visitors. Lokally's Storefront Content Rules and Announcement Bar Rules let you show different banners, hero images, and promotional copy to shoppers in different states. A Navratri sale banner can show only for Gujarat pincodes while Delhi shoppers see your standard announcement.

Yes. Lokally's content rules can swap any theme app extension block based on the shopper's detected region. If your theme uses a customisable hero block, you can configure Lokally to swap the hero image and copy for Mumbai vs Delhi NCR vs Bengaluru shoppers.

Lokally's Announcement Bar engine lets you create multiple bars and assign each to a region. When a shopper's pincode is detected, only the bar assigned to their region appears. You can configure message text, background colour, countdown timers, auto-dismiss, marquee scrolling, and message rotation — all per-region.

Yes. Each announcement bar in Lokally supports a countdown timer tied to a specific date and time. You can create a Navratri sale bar for Gujarat with a countdown to sale end — and it will only show for Gujarat shoppers. When the timer hits zero, the bar auto-dismisses or shows an expired message.

Yes. Lokally announcement bars support marquee (scrolling) mode for multi-message displays. You can configure a list of messages that rotate or scroll within a single bar — useful for communicating multiple regional offers without stacking multiple bars.

Scheduled publishing is on the Lokally roadmap. Currently, content rules go live when you publish and stay live until you deactivate them. For time-sensitive campaigns, you publish at the start and deactivate at the end manually. Automated scheduling will be added in a future release.

Yes. Lokally content rules can target product page blocks managed by Theme App Extensions. If you add a Lokally content block to your product page template, you can configure different description text, badges, or call-to-action copy per region.

Yes, for badges implemented as Lokally content blocks or Theme App Extension blocks. Native Shopify badge metafields are store-wide. If you want region-specific badges (e.g., 'Metro Exclusive' for Bengaluru, 'Festival Pick' for Kerala during Onam), add a Lokally badge block to your product template and configure it per region.

Yes. You can set product-specific region restrictions in Lokally. If a shopper from a restricted region attempts to purchase the product, the checkout will prevent them from completing the order. This is useful for managing compliance requirements, distribution agreements, or licensed product availability by geography.

Shipping zone restrictions are managed in Shopify's native shipping settings (Shipping and Delivery > Shipping zones). Lokally complements this by managing payment methods and pricing for the pincodes you allow. For maximum coverage, use Shopify shipping zones for delivery restrictions and Lokally for checkout experience personalisation.

Yes. Product-level region restrictions in Lokally block checkout completion for shoppers in restricted zones. The shopper sees an error at the checkout step explaining that the product is not available for delivery to their location.

Yes. You can configure a content rule that shows a specific announcement bar or content block to shoppers in a restricted region — for example, 'This product is not available in your area. Browse our alternatives.' This improves the experience compared to a generic checkout error.

Yes. You can configure reward rules that trigger discount codes or gift cards after a qualifying purchase. The codes are written to order metafields, which you can deliver to the customer using Shopify Flow or email marketing platforms like Klaviyo or Omnisend.

Yes. Reward rules in Lokally are scoped to regions, just like pricing and content rules. You can offer a ₹200 reward code to metro shoppers and a ₹100 reward code to Tier-2 shoppers, or trigger rewards only for specific regional campaigns.

Lokally writes the generated discount code to a Shopify order metafield immediately after a qualifying order is placed. To deliver it to the customer, set up a Shopify Flow automation or a Klaviyo post-purchase flow that reads the metafield and includes the code in the confirmation or follow-up email.

Lokally and Klaviyo do not have a direct native integration, but they work together via Shopify metafields. Lokally writes the reward code to the order metafield; Klaviyo's Shopify integration can read Shopify order metafields and include them in email flows. Set up a post-purchase flow in Klaviyo that pulls the Lokally reward metafield value.

Yes. Reward rules support spend threshold conditions — e.g., trigger a reward when cart value exceeds ₹1,500. You can set different thresholds per region: ₹2,000 in metros, ₹1,000 in Tier-2, reflecting different average order values in each market.

Reward rules fire on every qualifying order — so a returning customer who places another order above your spend threshold in the same region will receive a reward each time. You can narrow eligibility using the customer tag filter (e.g., tag returning customers as 'loyal' in Shopify and target that tag) or the email allowlist to limit rewards to a specific group.
